Problem

My auto insurance company is requesting clarification on whether my medical plan pays first in the event of an auto accident. Can I get clarification on this question?

Solution

Currently the BCBS, BCN and Priority Health medical plans all pay primary in an auto accident. To obtain proof for your auto insurer you will need to request it from your insurance provider by calling the phone number on the back of your medical card.

You can locate your Proof of Qualified Health Coverage or Proof of Coverage letter from BCBSM in the member portal. Once logged in at Ready to Help | Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Insurance , you can navigate to Forms > Proof of Coverage to download this letter. You can also email the advocate team (apmi.advocates@assuredpartners.com), they will be able to help you navigate if you need extra assistance.
