Maternity Leave Policy & Short Term Disability

In regard to leave, Epitec does not have a Maternity Leave Policy. However, once you hit your 1-year tenure of employment, you will become eligible for FMLA Leave. FMLA legally holds your position open while you are on leave for up to 12 weeks. You will be required to fill out certain FMLA documents about a month prior to your tentative leave date. Please reach out to us at this time so we can send you the proper documentation.

In regard to Short Term Disability, if you are actively enrolled, you can complete a Short-Term Disability Claim document on the Unum website around this time as well. It will be required for you, your doctor, and Epitec to fill out sections of this form. Once it is completed, Unum will review this to determine your claim.

For further information on Short Term Disability, please refer to the National Benefits Guide or Michigan Benefits Guide. Unum may determine a pre-existing condition with your pregnancy upon investigation of your claim. (If the pregnancy was known during enrollment of Short-Term Disability Benefit).
