Setting a Custom Background for the Teams Rooms

  • Change the background for the Logitech Tap Controllers and TVs in each of the teams rooms.

Preparing your Files

  1. Start by saving the image/images you would like to use as a background to your laptop as a jpg file.

You can have two different background images for the TV and the Logitech Tap Controller. Ensure that the images are saved separately with unique names.

  1. Download this text file,, and open it in Text Editor.

  2. In the file, where it says [replace with file name], replace with the name of the image that you would like to use for the background.

    1. Replace the text in between these two fields to update the background for the TV: <CustomBackgroundMainFoRDisplay> and <CustomBackgroundExtendedFoRDisplay>

    2. Replace the text in between this field to update the background for the Logitech Tap Controller: <CustomBackgroundConsole>

  1. Once you are done making updates save the file. Ensure that the file is named ‘SkypeSettings.txt’ or the background will not update.

Upload Files to OneDrive

  1. Next, in Edge open an InPrivate Browsing tab by clicking Ctrl + Shift + N or clicking on the three dots in the top right corner of the browser and clicking on ‘New InPrivate Window.’

  2. Once there, navigate to the OneDrive website, and log into your personal OneDrive Account.

  3. Upload all of the background images that you would like to use, as well as the ‘SkypeSettings.txt’ file.

Accessing the Desktop on the Tap Controller

  1. Next, go to the Teams room where you like to change the background.

  2. On the Logitech Tap Controller located on the table in the room, click on More → Settings, and enter the admin credentials for the device.

You can find the admin credentials for the teams rooms on LastPass.

  1. Next Click on Windows Settings at the bottom of the left sidebar of the device.

  2. When the login screen loads, click on Administrator In the bottom left corner of the screen.

  3. Enter in the same credentials to log into the admin account, again these can be found in LastPass.

Downloading Files to the Tap Controller

  1. Once signed in, navigate to the Edge Web browser on the tap controller.

  2. Again, click on three dots in the top right corner of the browser, then click New InPrivate Window to open a private browser tab.

  • Navigate to the OneDrive website, and sign into your personal account.

  • Download the image/images you would like to use for the background and the SkypeSettings.txt file.

  • Navigate to where you saved the files on your computer. Click on “SkypeSettings.txt” and click on rename to rename the file to “SkypeSettings.xml” to covert to an XML file.

  • Next, add another tab in the file explorer, navigate to C:\Users\Skype\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.SkypeRoomSystem_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState

  • Copy and paste each file from its origin to the LocalState folder.

  • Once each of your background image files and the SkypeSettings.xml file is in the local Files folder. Restart the device. When it powers back on the background should be ready to go.
